Dr. Nick TSUI

Co-Founder

Dr. Nick Tsui graduated from the Medical School of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) and is professionally trained as a specialist anaesthesiologist. With over a decade of experience in public hospitals, he is now in private practice and is currently serving as an anaesthesiology fellowship examiner. He is also qualified in simulation-based education, reflecting his passion for training and medical simulation education.


Nick further extended his professional interests into the medicolegal field, earning an LLM in Medical Laws and Ethics from the University of Edinburgh with a focus on medical negligence and end-of-life ethics. This additional expertise enhances his understanding of the legal and ethical dimensions of patient care.

Mr. Yves LEUNG

Co-Founder

Yves is admitted as a solicitor in both Hong Kong, England and Wales. In his ten-year legal career, he has dealt with various types of litigation, including commercial disputes, white-collar crimes, and judicial reviews. Yves understands that a lack of legal planning can lead to difficult situations and has witnessed many family relationships torn apart due to disputes over inheritance. He deeply appreciates the importance of advance planning.

 

Considering the legal inadequacies and complex family relationships faced by the LGBTQIA+ community, he hopes that every member of the community can have access to legal education and support to understand their rights, and to avoid subsequent disputes and emotional and financial stress. In addition to supporting the LGBTQIA+ community, he has also consistently supported other marginalized groups, striving to promote inclusivity and equality in society.

Dr. Jensen YIU

Co-Founder

Jensen is a gay man with a PhD in Pharmacology from HKU. Jensen previously worked in a laboratory, researching new drugs by studying human gut microbiota. After experiencing social unrest, epidemics, waves of immigration, and the impermanence around him, he began to rethink life. He now engages in the field of life-and-death education and grief care, attempting to provide direct support to those in need.


Jensen is also the Vice President of Society of True Light in Hong Kong, an organization advocating for self-acceptance among sexual minorities. He proactively promotes collaboration between institutions and public education and is dedicated to advancing LGBTQIA+ affirmative practices in the field of psychological counselling. His personal experiences and involvement with Society of True Light have given him a profound understanding of the difficulties and needs of the LGBTQIA+ community in Hong Kong. Believing that every life is precious and deserves attention, he hopes to bring about change for communities in need through academic research and social engagement.

Mr. Ken Leung

Head of Marketing

Ken brings to Alongside more than two decades of strategic marketing, brand building, and consumer insights experience across global companies, where he shaped growth strategies, drove product and retail innovation, and guided cross‑functional teams through complex market transformations. After years of helping some of the world’s most recognized brands find their voice, he made a deliberate and deeply personal decision to align his professional life with the causes closest to his heart: dignity at the end of life and LGBTQ+ autonomy—work that
reflects his belief in living and choosing with authenticity.


A long‑standing advocate for inclusion, Ken founded the first LGBTQ+ employee resource group in Asia in his previous role, co‑chairs Pride in Fashion—a network of LGBTQ+ ERGs across apparel brands—and previously served with the Gay Games Hong Kong. His commitment to human well‑being extends beyond advocacy: he is a registered yoga teacher with the Yoga Alliance and a Full Member of the Hong Kong Professional Counsellor Association.

Mr. Kevin Wong

Creative Director

Kevin graduated from The University of Hong Kong with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Information Systems. As Creative Director at Alongside, he is responsible for transforming topics such as end-of-life education, advance planning, and personal autonomy into creative content and experiences that are accessible, thought-provoking, and emotionally resonant.

 

At Alongside, Kevin coordinated the S+ Summit cum Expo VR experience project, an immersive experience that invites participants to step into the shoes of a person approaching the end of life and reflect on life’s final chapter. Through this experience, participants are encouraged to think more deeply about life choices, personal wishes, and medical decision-making. This work has further strengthened Kevin’s belief that every person, regardless of background, identity, or circumstance, deserves to be treated with equality, respect, and dignity.

 

Through creativity, design, and experience planning, Kevin hopes to open up more public conversations around life, choice, and dignity, making topics that are often seen as heavy or difficult more approachable, understandable, and open for discussion.

Mx. Esther Leung

Program Manager

Esther holds a Master’s degree in Gender Studies from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and has achieved Level 1 and Level 2 certifications as a Life Organizing Consultant. In 2022, she founded How to Say Goodbye Again, Hong Kong’s first social enterprise dedicated to deceased estate organizing services. By integrating a gender perspective with end-of-life and post-loss organizing, Esther facilitates workshops and hands-on organizing services to accompany individuals from diverse backgrounds through their loss and grief, ensuring that every grieving process is understood and respected.

 

Prior to joining Alongside, Esther worked as a project manager and content strategist across non-profit organizations and media. With nearly a decade of experience driving social change and content dissemination, she actively advocated for same-sex marriage in Hong Kong. Through storytelling, video production, and various initiatives, she successfully spearheaded multiple impactful public education campaigns and secured significant media coverage.

Mr. Jason Wong

Senior Marketing Executive

Jason graduated from Hong Kong Baptist University with a major in Advertising and Branding, and later earned his Master’s degree in Corporate Communications from The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He focuses on purposeful storytelling, with a particular interest in life and death education, exploring how complex topics can be conveyed in thoughtful and engaging ways.

 

Through his work, he aims to support more inclusive perspectives and contribute to open and equitable conversations in society.

Mr. Kenny Ho

Project Executive

As a Project Executive, Kenny brings over five years of multi-disciplinary event coordination expertise. Since 2021, he has served as an Event Committee member for the Federation of Japanese Sake Associations, spearheading major cultural initiatives such as the Oriental Sake Awards (OSA) and The Mira Sake Festival. These high-profile experiences have honed his precision in managing complex logistics and international collaborations, enabling him to translate visionary concepts into rigorous, executable frameworks.

 

At Alongside, Kenny leads end-to-end project logistics management, dedicated to advancing End-of-Life Planning through operational excellence. He firmly believes that stable technical support and seamless process design are the bedrocks upon which participants can safely explore their emotions. Whether overseeing the deployment of immersive VR technology or curating poignant community experiences, he upholds the highest standards to safeguard emotional spaces. His mission is to ensure that technology and craft are transformed into the warmth of companionship, turning urban grief into a powerful force for collective healing and connection.

Ms. Cman Wong

Case Manager
Registered Social Worker

Cman is a Registered Social Worker with extensive experience in youth and family services. Having encountered bereavement cases in her practice, she deeply appreciates the importance of advance care planning—it empowers individuals to express their wishes clearly and provides direction for loved ones during loss. These experiences sparked her strong interest in end-of-life and grief issues, and she aims to facilitate others plan ahead, creating space for meaningful farewells and remembrance.

Beyond frontline work, she is pursuing a Master’s in Anthropology at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. She hopes to integrate diverse perspectives into terminal care and bereavement support, accompanying communities in exploring profound topics like death, relationships, and life choices with greater understanding and dignity.

Mr. Nick Leung

Case Manager
Registered Social Worker

Graduated with a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) in Social Work from City University of Hong Kong, a Master of Public Health from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a Master of Arts in Communication from Hong Kong Baptist University. With over 15 years of experience in social services, covering areas such as youth outreach, school social work, elderly services, community education, and research.

After undergoing various life transitions, now focusing on counselling work in this new stage of life, providing support to minority groups and individuals who have experienced trauma. Currently a registered social worker and undergoing psychodrama training certified by the American Board of Examiners in Psychodrama, Sociometry and Group Psychotherapy.

Enjoys water sports, travel, photography, and art. Hopes to accompany service users through different stages of life with professionalism and passion.

Mr. Kyle Chung

Case Manager

Kyle is a fintech product manager in the tech industry, with a specialisation in web3.

Beyond his professional life, Kyle has long been drawn to exploring the deeper questions of existence. This curiosity led him to complete a Master’s degree in Buddhist Studies at the University of Hong Kong. Inspired by the wisdom found in religion, he joined Alongside, in the hope of fostering genuine human connections built on compassion and empathy—ultimately supporting others in living and also dying with dignity.

Ms. Cyndi Ng

Case Manager

Cyndi holds a Bachelor of Arts in History and a Juris Doctor from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and is currently pursuing a Master of Social Science in Social Work. She has worked in both legal and non‑profit settings, handling cases related to grassroots families, housing and employment, and more recently has focused on family and child protection work. These experiences allow her to walk with clients at the intersection of legal processes and emotional needs.

Cyndi has a particular interest in advance care and end‑of‑life planning. She believes that everyone deserves to make important life decisions in an atmosphere of understanding and respect. By joining Alongside, she hopes to integrate her legal, social work and life‑education training to provide clear, accessible and gentle support, helping individuals and families make informed choices that truly reflect their values.

Ms. Josephine Fung

Research Assistant (Voluntary)

Josephine is a registered psychiatric nurse in Hong Kong with clinical experience in both public hospitals and private healthcare settings. She holds a Master’s degree in Gender Studies – Intersectionality and Change from Linköping University. Through her frontline work, she has witnessed the struggles faced by individuals of diverse backgrounds during hospitalisation and in private hostels. Passionate about health equity, Josephine is keen to acquire more research experience to equip herself for future postgraduate studies and to generate deeper insights that promote inclusive and affirming healthcare for individuals of all gender identities and sexual orientations.

Ms. Lisa Lam

Volunteer

Lisa is a legal and compliance counsel with over 20 years of experience in the digital finance sector. She is the founder and managing consultant of her own legal consulting company, where she provides bespoke legal and regulatory compliance solutions to digital finance businesses, with a focus on Web3 and payments.

 

Lisa’s commitment extends beyond professional services. She is also a passionate volunteer and leader in the LGBTQ+ community. In addition to serving as the head of external affairs at Alongside Limited, Lisa is also a board/committee member of two other charities: Grey & Pride and AIDS Concern. Before that, Lisa was the co-chair and general counsel of Gay Games 11 Hong Kong 2023 – the first Gay Games in Asia – until the successful closure of the event in November 2023.
